Poetic Devices in Take Me There - Downloadable PowerPoint Show

Debating controversial issues is sometimes tricky, especially when you attempt to debate both sides of an issue at the same time. That's what I did in the following deleted scene from Take Me There. My editor suggested that I remove the scene because it slowed down the pace of the story. I agreed with her, but I still wanted to share this scene with my readers because it's an example of how important it is to look at all sides of a controversial issue.

For follow-up you might want to have your students write a scene on a controversial topic where they must look at the issue from more than one viewpoint. This requires not only researching the topic, but keeping an open mind.
